Panama awarded 4th place on “52 Places to Go in 2019” list

The New York Times awards Panama 4th place on “52 Places to Go in 2019” list

After taking fourth place in the Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2019 list as one of the best countries to visit this year, Panama repeats position on the prestigious New York Times “52 Places to Go in 2019” list.

The recognition is undoubtedly influenced by the recent opening of two new luxury boutique hotels on the Panamanian Pacific coast, in the islands of the Gulf of Chiriqui. These two new additions to the country’s luxury hotel scene continue the trend started by the 2018 debut of the JW Marriott, Santa María Hotel, and the W Panama in Panama City and the announcements of the future construction of a Viceroy Hotel in Bocas del Toro and a Ritz Carlton in the Las Perlas archipelago.

The strong investment that the luxury tourism industry is making in Panama confirms all the forecasts that the country is about to confirm its position as a regional leader in the tourist scene. Striking Panama, despite its low popularity as a tourist destination, contains an extensive range of natural gems (rainforest and cloud forests, white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, national parks), uninhabited islands, indigenous groups, variety of wildlife, excellent ecotourism options, and, of course, one of the most impressive engineering works of our era: The Panama Canal.
