In a Nutshell
Akwadup Lodge is set on a large coral reef crowned by coconut palms and surrounded by the warm waters of the Caribbean. The island is uninhabited. Accommodations consist of seven basic cabanas built on stilts over the ocean. The free-standing, conical-shaped dining room is set in grassy, landscaped grounds and features screened windows, high ceilings, and views to the horizon’s rainforest mountains. The modern, ergonomically and hygienically designed kitchen is the source of specialties such as lobster, shrimp and fish, freshly caught in season. The bohios (sunshelters) scattered around the island provide pleasant shaded areas for relaxation and cooling drinks. Daily tours feature visits to nearby, authentic Kuna villages, river boat tours into the rainforest, snorkeling trips, and even visits to the local cemetery to learn about the Kuna traditions.
